Is Christian Obodo useful as a DM...
...because from what I've seen of him in the SE shirt, he certainly doesn't have what it takes to play as an AM for the SE, or be a marquee player especially now that Obi has truly staked a claim to that role behind JJ..
So how relevant is Obodo to what will probably be a new SE midfield under a new coach..

Obodo is not DM Material, he is a CM, he would be usefull in a 5 midfield formation, like the one Chelsea used last season. he plays the same way Obi did in the just concluded WYC, but he does not track back as much.

JUST HOPE THE NEW COACHES DON'T PLAY HIM AS A STRIKER--Mister Dolly wrote:...because from what I've seen of him in the SE shirt, he certainly doesn't have what it takes to play as an AM for the SE, or be a marquee player especially now that Obi has truly staked a claim to that role behind JJ..

OBODO AIN'T A STRIKER---ALSO HOPE THE NEW COACHES CAN
BRING THE BEST OUT OF HIM--VERY RELEVANT TO SE!

Obodo is behind Oruma is the pecking order. He was worthless in Kano and didn't bring any bite to the attack.Mister Dolly wrote:...because from what I've seen of him in the SE shirt, he certainly doesn't have what it takes to play as an AM for the SE, or be a marquee player especially now that Obi has truly staked a claim to that role behind JJ..

Lai lai lai!
Obodo threaded two brilliant passes that team mates wasted. First he found Osaze unmarked in the box with a brilliant threaded pass. The next was when he hustled in the box and found Kevin Ammunike unmarked, unfortunately Ammunike could not finish. Obodo was flawless in his brief time on the field.
Dolly:
Obodo is highly talented. IMO, he'd be most effective in the center of midfield, mopping up, distributing and occasionally joining the attack in a support role. I still think he can make the leap to full DM if he can improve on his defense!

Do not let Yujam lynch you ... err too late!!! This is what I have said, and ever since uttering such blasphemy Yujam has not allowed me to hear word ... Obodo is what I call a squad player ... he is good, but he needs to have one hot season.

MD,
If i were to be the coach of the SE today, Obodo will be a key member of my midfield squad comprising of the following:
1. Atanda Yussuf,
2. Sani Kaita
3. Mikel Obi
4. Xtian Obodo
5. Osazee Odemwegie
6. Aliyu Mohammed Datti - here may be the answer to the left sided midfield problem if i need to play a 4-4-2 formation. I would also have another closer look at that local boy, Ogechukwu Ileagu and see what he is up to now.

Obodo is relevant to the SE, he is talented enough. He needs to improve his workrate this is the only problem I have with him, however he would not be in my starting SE XI on current form!
the emergence of Obi who is a similar player to him has just pushed him further back in the pecking order.

Just look at ur mouth like Seyi...if you haven't been told cuz you have no aptitude to appraise soccer, Seyi wouldn't have made the U-20 team if he tried out! the guy sucks.Ayo Akinfe wrote:A good coach will know how to bring out the best in Obodo. He has suffered from crap coaching in the Eagles.
Like Frank Lampard, Chris is not your deep lying anchorman but would excel in that role if played there properly with someone like Seyi or Yusuf.

Re: Is Christian Obodo useful as a DM...
Yujam, the problem is that the SE have not had a coach who understands & appreciates the value of Obodo. His game is similar to Mikel's except that Mikel has more physical presence and is more effective.

For starters, Obodo cannot do any worse than Olofinjana did as a DM.... which was nothing. That's why its easy to blame C3. He pigeon holed Obodo as an AM in the mold of JJ which was never the case if he bothered to watch any Fiorentina games.Eaglezbeak wrote:It seems to me that no one knows where to put Obodo so why did any one blame CCC for messing up?
Re: Is Christian Obodo useful as a DM...
Ol'boy I agree that we need a coach that can incorporate Obodo into the SE but please make no mistake about it Obodo is no Mikel. He is good but not as good as Mikel. That is very obvious even to the naked and naive eyes.green4life wrote:Yujam, the problem is that the SE have not had a coach who understands & appreciates the value of Obodo.
