Re: Onana Picks Club Over Country
How so? Onana should know better than to report to camp late and in this case, actually miss the first game.
Cameroon could be out after two games.
Also, if the coaches decide to stick with the goalie who starts in the first game, Onana should not pout on the bench.

Re: Onana Picks Club Over Country
Again, misleading. Negotiations went on between Fecafoot and Man United. Both parties came to an agreement that Onana play for Tottenham on the 14th.Kabalega wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2024 2:35 pmHow so? Onana should know better than to report to camp late and in this case, actually miss the first game.

Again, an agreement between both parties. If Fecafoot said no, Onana would be in camp.
It's not the first time that this is happening. When Real Mallorca won the King's Cup back in 2003, there was an agreement between both Mallorca and Fecafoot to let Eto'o play for Mallorca. Eto'o would proceed to score two goals against Madrid for Mallorca to win the King's Cup, and fly immediately to go play against France the next day at the Confederations Cup final. All it takes is negotiations between the two FAs.
You guys are making something out of nothing.
It makes sense for Onana not to be the starter for the first game add he would have had not up to a day for his body to recoup.
Fecafoot is not complaining. Man United is not complaining. Onana is not complaining.
Why y'all making drama out of nothing?

Re: Onana Picks Club Over Country
as far as im aware he is the only player of approximately 648 players called up to the tournament with this type of arrangement. there are a lot of players who are far more important to their clubs than Onana is to his club who are in CIV with their compatriots.
furthermore Cameroon will be home before the postcards so at this point he may as well stay with Man United.

He shoul've stayed back. We never found out why he was sent home from the WC. What makes Cameroon think that he won't repeat whatever he did or said to the coach the last time?

A player from the national team told me personally that Onana brought a side chick to his room and was caught. If I were Onana,, I would stay behind. His career is more important than the national team at this point in time.

Ten Hag should be ashamed of himself if he has any shame left as a person. AFCON was not some strange word before you signed him. This is 2024, get the guy out to join his national team. He will go back to his people after his football career.

Can't blame him. He knows he's on thin ice for United and an extended period without him and their results slightly improve he's going to be riding the bench, he wants to cement his place.

Re: Onana Picks Club Over Country
There was no goal line technology back then and even Ikpeba's reaction convinced both the lines man and the ref that it was but a goal. If Victor is convinced that it's not a goal, who is the referee to refuse? furthermore Cameroon will be home before the postcards so at this point he may as well stay with Man United.
There is a reason why they are the second most successful team in the history of AFCON.
Victor Ikpeba's penalty was a goal but was ruled out. That's robbery

I thought Fecafoot could stop him playing for United throughout the period of the Nations Cup even though I know African federation's hardly invoke that rule. How can he pick Club over Country?
