KERR & TATUM vs GEORGE & LOOKMAN
Would be observed that coach Kerr of USA basketball left out Tatum completely from a competitive game (USA vs Croatia). For those who may not know, Tatum is the best player in the reigning NBA champions and the young man just signed the most lucrative contract ever in the history of the league. He was not even used as a sub in a game in which subs go in and come out like a revolving door.
For sure, Kerr was criticized by many but nothing like the harshness with which another coach in another sport was criticized. What's more, no one is suggesting Kerr was clueless even though he had many assistants with him. Furthermore, he had an extensive training period with the squad and obviously has considerable knowledge of said player.
The other coach, of course, was Finidi George who coached a roughly arranged friendly with few if any assistants. Yet, he was excoriated and judgment was quickly rendered on his abilities with charges that he knew nothing about substitutions.
Just thought I'd bring this up for perspectives.

AGAIN...Tatum left off completely in USA vs Serbia. Must have been feeling very warm in his warm up suit which never came off. Coach's explanation: not enough room in a 40-minute game for everybody. Let's see if Tatum will have anything to say (about coach Ker) after the golds are handed out.
