I have noticed we've really upped our set-pieces in recent games

It doesn't matter if Chuks gave the ball away.Bigpokey24 wrote: ↑Sat May 31, 2025 5:10 pmit was on Samu 100% . let's not over state Sodiq being at fault, because yall do not like homebased. Samu made a nice move and then tried some useless stylish pass when Agu was completely free on the left.iworo wrote: ↑Sat May 31, 2025 5:05 pmDon’t mind Danfo Driver piling on Chukwueze when the obvious culprit is Sodiq. His brainlessness in giving the ball away, when he could have passed the ball to an open Agu put his team under severe pressure. Sodiq's positioning was on the attack, with that turnover, he had to recover his direction in the Jamaican's transition, which is not easy to do.
He was abused like Mike Tysons girlfriend.
Sodiq was completely in POSOTION , he was not out of position.
He was WELL behind the Jamaican attacker, had plenty of time and room, yet was easily beaten like a training cone.

Apart from the goal, Moses has contributed nothing else in this game, numerous incomplete dribbles and crosses.
Felix Agu seems decent.

Ogbu is raw. Needs to up his game. Very similar to early days of Taribo West

See the difference with how Agu dealt with the same player who skinned Sodiq.

No one is saying that Chukwueze didn’t mess up at all. Chukwueze losing the ball was sloppy and avoidable, especially in a dangerous area during transition, but that doesn’t automatically lead to a goal if the team reacts well.danfo driver wrote: ↑Sat May 31, 2025 5:08 pmits okay o. Sodiq is indeed more culpable because he allowed the Jamaican winger too much space. Failed to close down the cross and didn’t block or pressure adequately.
Once a cross is allowed from that position, the danger multiplies and the defenders and goalkeeper are then under heavy pressure.
In modern football analysis, this would be called a “second-phase error”. The first mistake (Chukwueze losing the ball) created the situation, but the defensive failure to stop the cross and then potentially poor marking in the box are usually considered the more direct causes of the goal.
So, Sodiq’s failure to stop the cross is a bigger error in the chain of mistakes that led to the goal. Good teams can recover from a turnover, but only if the defenders do their job immediately after.

We also need to learn to pass the ball around and take the pace out of it. We dont always have to feel the pressure to attack or move forward - when you do that, you are more likely to waste possession and more so, get tired quicker. We need to pass the ball from side to side, ware them out.

LOL. we are not in disagreement.
