Manchester United are keen on the signing of Leicester's Wilfred Ndidi

Manchester United are reported to have submitted a lowball offer to sign Wilfred Ndidi and believe a deal is there to be done for a ridiculously small price, though they will face competition from SIX rivals, including one from within the Premier League, for the departing Leicester City star.

The Nigeria international is eligible to quit the King Power Stadium after their relegation back to the Championship, with a clause in his contract confirming clubs can trigger his signing for a modest £9m (€10.5m, $12.3m). A midfielder with over 250 games for Leicester under his belt, Ndidi has spent all but one of his nine seasons with the Foxes in the Premier League.

That vast experience coupled with the bargain clause in his deal makes him a player of obvious appeal – and it was reported last month that the 66-times capped Nigeria star was emerging as a possible target for Manchester United this summer.

Now, according to reports, United have launched a firm enquiry with Leicester to try and secure Ndidi’s signing – and cunning director of football Jason Wilcox is understood to believe a deal is there to be done for even lower than the £9m clause in his contract.

Indeed, as per Givemesport, United are ready to test the waters with a lowball £5m offer for the 28-year-old, believing the Foxes will be desperate to offload the player, whose £75,000 a week wages are seen as unaffordable for a team operating in the second tier.

Seen as an ideal upgrade for Casemiro in the United engine room and the perfect complement for Bruno Fernandes as one of the two central midfielders in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation, Ndidi managed to cover himself in glory across the 2024/25 campaign despite Leicester’s clear deficiencies in re-establishing themselves back among the Premier League.

As per FBref, the 6ft star ranked among the top 5% of central midfielders across Europe’s top five leagues last season for tackles, the top 7% for blocks, the top 3% for clearances and the top 4% for aerial battles won per 90 – making him the perfect candidate to protect the three-man defensive line Amorim likes to operate with.

Man Utd face Wilfred Ndidi transfer competition

Understandably, United are far from alone in being the only side appreciative of Ndidi’s talents, with the report suggesting no fewer than six other sides are also on his trail – and casting doubts on United’s ability to get a deal done for less than his release clause.

Indeed, he has also been sounded out over a move to Everton, ahead of their new era at the Hill d#$% Stadium at Bramley Moor Dock, and with David Moyes seeing the Nigerian as a perfect midfield foil for Idrissa Gueye, with the Senegalese star on the cusp of agreeing a new deal himself to stay on Merseyside.

In addition, Ndidi – an FA Cup winner with the Foxes in 2021 – is also wanted by Real Betis and Juventus. Manuel Pellegrini’s side see him as an ideal replacement following Johnny Cardoso’s move to Atletico Madrid, while Juventus are looking for more bite in their midfield after the disappointing form of Douglas Luiz, who could now be sold.

The midfielder is also being touted for a move to Saudi Arabia, too, who is described as ‘open’ to a switch to the Middle East and with all of Al-Ahli, Al Nassr, and NEOM SC all having been offered the chance to sign the former Genk man.

Man Utd transfer latest: England star says YES to move; quintet want OUT

United, meanwhile, have been given serious encouragement over a deal for Ivan Toney after it was reported the striker is very keen to move to Old Trafford, with Amorim now focusing on two main striker targets after seemingly missing out on Viktor Gyokeres.

This is the sort of data driven analysis we should be looking at instead of emotional analysis that Ndidi is finished at the highest levels.

I know you are involved in a running battle with another forumer.... however, while the data shows Ndidi doing well at his club, the question is whether his data is at same level with SE. I suspect that it would be but I raise the question here to note that such data as presented here is only good in terms of inviting a player but it does not necessarily indicate how a player performs in GWG.

Which data?    Abeg lets stop this joke. Ndidi was terrible last season at Leicester and was part of the reasons Leicester got relegated. He was truly sh1t! In the game vs Man United where United flogged them 3-0 in their own stadium, he was so so so bad. I saw that game and couldnt believe what I was watching.

How many SE -layers have the same performance for club and country stat-wise? The SE is not a professionally ran team, it does not have the management capabilities to get the best out of the players. The club stat is a larger sample and a more reliable representation of the player.

E11,
I am not involved in any running battle with anyone on the forum and my post is not aimed at anyone. So please focus on the topic and don’t try and stir unnecessary controversy!
What I am trying to point out is that data driven analysis is a more accurate representation of a player’s performance rather than based on our visual analysis.
I didn’t know that Ndidi had such impressive stats myself but sometimes watching him play in such a poor team like Leicester, he comes across as being as poor as the rest of the team.

How many SE -layers have the same performance for club and country stat-wise? The SE is not a professionally ran team, it does not have the management capabilities to get the best out of the players. The club stat is a larger sample and a more reliable representation of the player.
What is relevant to us in the CE site is what they do when they put on the GWG because that is what impacts the result of the team --- Super Eagles. Take Boniface for instance, what use is his stat at his club to SE? Bros, those stats are only relevant in terms of the guy deserving an invitation to the SE. After that, what counts is what he does (Stats at SE) for the Super Eagles.

BTW, I suspect that Ndidi's stats at SE will be good. Thus, the point I am making here is a larger one and beyond just Ndidi.

Leicester star Wilfred Ndidi next to the Manchester United badge

E11,
I am not involved in any running battle with anyone on the forum and my post is not aimed at anyone.
That is good to know. What the site should be is a focus on discourse and not the different personalities that contribute here.

Great perspective and legit argument.

Some herein love to bulldoze their way through arguments about players, and they
keep forgetting that team sport is more about the TEAM and less about individuals.
Ndidi might still have something to offer to the SE, and we cannot allow those with
prejudiced perspectives determine who should or should not be considered for the SE.

The fact that his stats are bad and the SE haven’t been getting good results should be a sign that things are not right with SE. Besides Vic, whose stats are solely based on individual effort, how many SE players are performing to club standard? I can’t think of any. If you construct a team properly and use players appropriately to form a team, the team will be able to get results even when they don’t play to expectations. As it stands, we need Oshimen to score 2 goals to get a draw. Not good enough.

While I think Boniface is a lost cause, you have a point. We used Musa in the wings throughout his SE career even though he couldn't cross to save his life. I felt like Musa should’ve been used as a Center Forward like how they used him at CSKA Moscow, those days he was banging goals for them.

Juventus trying to beat Manchester United to the signing of Ndidi

Juve on the hunt for a midfielder. Tuttosport on the front page: "Ndidi is the opportunity"
07.07.2025 07:23 by Niccolò Righi

Juventus is on the hunt for a midfielder who can increase and bring experience to the squad and today's edition of Tuttosport is called Ndidi. With Leicester's relegation, the Nigerian has been given a clause of 10 million euros, which makes it a real market opportunity. Comolli thinks of reinforcing Tudor's midfield by beating Manchester United's competition. Hancko is hot again for the defense: Feyenoord asks for 30 million. And Sancho is getting closer and closer. Mbangula the first to leave?

Nah. Boniface is not a lost cause. We can’t afford to give up on him so easily.

He has his faults and one accusation is his lack of focus. In as much as that alone is detrimental to anyone’s game, it might be a red herring. It’s not only when he wears the GWG that he suddenly loses focus, but he still performs at club level.
It’s credible to suggest the problem might be elsewhere.
Like has been suggested, maybe the coach hasn’t figured out how to bring out the best in him.

It’s not a problem that is new to the world of football and it’s not necessarily his fault.
For years, even Messi had his critics whenever he donned the Argentina shirt.
Richard Owubokiri comes to mind.
Nwankwo Kanu too.
Glen Hoddle of England is another.

There are probably dozens and dozens more.
We can’t just drop such a talented player because we can’t figure out the problem. We are not that blessed to replace him just like that. He is proven quality, not a ‘potential’.

His club form has been poor since the failed transfer to Saudi Arabia. I also feel like he might need to change club for things to get better for him. I think his relationship with his teammates was fractured after that failed move. I didn't like that press conference with Patrick Schick & Xavi Alonso. Then weeks later Bonuface fought with a clubmate. Even with the SE, he seems to be agitated easily when things are not going well.

The guy need a change of scenery and a coach/Mentor to get back to his old self. What I do know is that we can't be playing him in a do-or-die WCQ games hoping for him to turn it around, Mba! Give that opportunity to Desser.

I felt like Musa should’ve been used as a Center Forward like how they used him at CSKA Moscow, those days he was banging goals for them.
