Whilst many may criticise the contest, its timing and competitors, none can poopoo the cold cash up for grabs. On par with the Champions League, with fewer games to play. The Club World Cup is a behemoth that will only grow more bloodthirsty and brazen.

The most believable part of these statements is the “just imagine”. Only in the realms of make believe and imagination can “well run” be used in the same sentence as Nigeria. Idealistic, utopian, perhaps both at once and sprinkled with a healthy helping of fairy dust.

The ideas on the division of proceeds zips through all the worlds of fantasy to arrive at absolute madness.

The money won’t make it to the boarding gate talk less of the league and clubs. Corruption is as much a product of the codon as peptides and transcription factors. Such fantasy cannot be actualised in Nigeria for the simple fact that it’s Nigeria and full of Nigerians. That being said, arguably one of DD’s best posts. It’s a shame such thinking will never find its way to any meaningful office or boardroom in Africa’s great Gomorrah.

Complete nonsense. The super league is a UEFA problem not FIFAs.

Its a tournament with no real place in the football ecosystem.

And it's FIFAs, re Infantino's money play to counter UEFAs champions league riches...

There's only one Mundial and it comes around every four years.
if pool were in it, you will sing a different tune. The winner of this tournament will make over 100M

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Total Prize Pool: $1 billion.
Winner's Potential Maximum: $125 million.
Guaranteed Participation Fees: $525 million distributed among participating clubs.
Performance-Based Rewards: $475 million allocated based on sporting achievements.
European Teams: May receive the largest share of the prize money, potentially earning between $12.81 million and $38.19 million, depending on their performance and ranking.
Other Regional Teams: Teams from South America will receive $15.21 million, while those from North/Central America, the Caribbean, Asia, Africa, and Oceania will receive $9.55 million.
Minimum Participation Reward: Clubs can earn $9.55 million just for participating.
Performance Bonuses: Clubs can earn additional money for wins, draws, and progressing through the tournament rounds. For example, a win in the group stage could add $2 million, while reaching the semifinals could add $21 million.

Yes. This could have been a 3-3 tie, but for that stupid pass by Williams which Nmecha passed back into the net. Sundowns are an exciting team to watch, shades of old Brazil, with the same sloppiness in defence.

Those brilliant Bellingham brothers are both ballers. Where is bret-hater to come and yab. :taunt:

Why did Guirassy declare for Guinea? His is that powerful center-forward that France has been looking for. Perhaps because he was a late bloomer whose early career was blighted by injury.

Chief, he was a late bloomer who is 29 at the moment which is probably why Les Bleus overlooked him. But he's better than any of the strikers they currently have.

I dont like this comment at all, Uncle. It is language always used for African teams... "they will learn."

Mamelodi that "will learn" has an average age of 28 years old, while Dortmund has an average age of 25.

Coach wrote: Thu Jun 19, 2025 6:59 pm This de facto Super League will inevitably be a European slugfest come the business rounds.

As you can see, he also believes that the European teams have fought with vigour and will triumph during "the business rounds." :D

Everything else is but a poor imitation...
    You know full well that this isnt the conversation. The conversation is whether or not the Brits and Europeans came for an excursion, while every other team is playing their heart out -- so the Brits and European blushes can be spared anytime they lose a game.

The football has been top notch , I have enjoyed the tournament . the Brazilians are super, their fans, chants , football, e sweet no be small

I am glad we get to see Sundowns aka South Africa. Eric Chelle has no excuse on how to prosecute that game

There are obvious benefits to being mid-season as opposed to at the end of it. A rule that applies to all athletic endeavours.

In DH Lawrence’s classic, Cliff Chatterley’s concoction of bitter leaf and dogoyaro, brought his soldier upright and out of the trench for a full 6 minutes. Had Lady Constance called for his “pulling up to the bumper” at 3 minutes and 45, he’d have duly obliged.

Shrivelled and shrunk, seven minutes in, it was an impossibility. By the eight minute mark, a mid-shift Olly Mellors was playing out from the back like the Selecao of the 70s. Oooooooh, Oariá raiô, Obá obá obá!!!

We watched this very boring video, 500 times, of Sacchi doing defensive drills, using sticks and without the ball, with Maldini, Baresi and Albertini.
